I recently bought a bunch of Chinese coins out of the junk bin at my local coin shop and today I was trying to identify them. This last one stumped me, but finally I figured out it looks like a 1931 50 cash from Honan. This is a valuable coin, but I also notice that the ones I see online have much sharper details than mine seems to. Is this from wear or is mine a fake? You won't hurt my feelings if it is. I probably have about 25 cents invested in it.
I'm leaning towards genuine. Coins struck during this era are quite crude. Not a 50 cash but mine is 100 cash Most of the coins sold online these days are NOT genuine. That is probably a coin that could hit 150 - 200 dollars (assuming genuine) Nice one!
Thanks, I was hoping you'd chime in. I got several of the 10 and 20 cash I didn't recognize but most turned out to be fairly common. This one was very different from the rest though. It doesn't look like what I'd expect a fake to look like, but I don't really know.
