Hi, I founded this coin in the coin roll. I need some help to understand what is this is double die or something else?
I'm not seeing any doubling at all.The light reflection is very distracting, looks like a normal nickel to me.
I post couple of pictures what I did couple of days ago , now I'm trying to take some pictures but when I'm trying to get closer is too bright. Coin on the right is the coin which I'm thinking is doubled or something else. I'm still trying to get better pictures
I see the doubling. I would say it's what we call die bounce. No extra value, but kind of neat. Not worthwhile to have it professionally graded.
Very common coin - struck from a worn or overused die. Not an error, and no premium over face value. Every coin struck from that die state will look like that - or slightly better, or slightly worse.
Please save your $$ and listen to those that know the nickel. OR waste your $$ and learn the hard way. JMO Phil
Good idea. Put in a 2X2 flip and save it. You received very honest and accurate advice from one the most trusted and respected error specialists in all of numismatics. Further your knowledge by studying the coining process and professional websites. Do not get advice from YouTube. Perhaps some of the other wonderful people can post the better websites for you. I’m lying on a exam table in a VA hospital waiting for a procedure or I would have provided them myself. Happy coin roll hunting!
If you enjoy having the coin seal it, keep it, show it. You are the best judge of the coin. No to TPG in my opinion. Good luck.
Sometimes we tend to look "too hard" at our coins and can easily convince ourselves that we have something that we really don't. A worn die and circulation can easily confuse some. Good luck on your searches.
