    So here is Jefferson #2.
I am adding a poll to the last 3 GTG's so please give your opinion of the grade in the poll
and if you wish please give your Technical grade and Market grade in the replies.

Tech is 63, 5FS...Market is 64, 6FS. I ought to have my head examined for even guessing this stuff of market and other v. tech, whatever...plus the 5-6 FS (oh, yes...and "add 1") poppycock. Have fun.:woot:

That is your choice, it is always a benefit to know where you came from as to what is happening today.
These are minor coins that will stay in their slabs until I pass, and I thank you for your opinion.

Even those watching you have quite a few of the best here on CT in the nickel business. I would ask you to just watch the answers even if you don't have an opinion. They are darn good at this game.
I am ondering what @jtlee321 has to say, would really love to get @physics-fan3.14 opinion. @cladking

I wonder how many market graded ms coins would disappear from pcgs and ngc slabs if only technical graded for uncirculated was used.

Tough date but it's easy with steps.

It's also a tough call but I'm guessing it's 65 FS. It's not nice enough to get a bump for being tough but it did anyway.

I think this is a tough one to call from any photo but I suspect these photos aren't representative.

I’m going with MS 64 again ….just a few too many scattered hits ….market grading could easily push it into a 65 holder

….I’m thinking Anacs gave it a 5.5 FS because of the tick going though the middle of the bottom two steps

These seem to be too easy for ya'll. lol
The 5.5 steps was given to what ANACS saw as a small ding in the steps.
Whether they were left over planchet roughness or not. I like the designation
but it seems a bit too technical for the grading system TPGs use today.

Does that mean they used the FSNC "Quarterstep" method?

I guess so. I honestly don’t know how they arrived at it. To me, that is a 5 step Jefferson.

There are many reasons ANACS gave the 5.5 designation. One reason was if the ding or slight break did not bridge another step. These dings that you are seeing look more like a crack in the step than a bag mark from another coin.
