Picked up a coin from the "Wars of the Roses" 1455-85 AV Half Ryal ND 1466-69 (First Reign of Edward IV/ House of York) Rose mint mark/ Tower Mint. In 1455 Richard of York rebelled against the Lancastrian Ruler, Henry VI. This started a 30 year period of conflict between the Yorkist (White Rose) and the Lancastrians (Red Rose) in England.
Wow John, that is a beauty!! Both sides are impressive, but then..gold, so... And I notice you got it from Heritage & didn't mention a word about the cost because you got what you wanted to get, for what you were willing to pay!...kudos!
It was $5400 including 20 % comm. fees Now, I have to go to work to pay for it I got a streak going/ 116 days straight/ 10-14 hrs a day. I should be able to add a ton of coins this year. Probably walked 6000+ kms so far.....since starting work March 30th. John
Agreed! It was a commentary on the recent plethora of complaints about how prices on auction sites, & specifically Heritage, seem to be exploding. I hoped my comment would be interpreted as: when you see something you like/want (let's face it, nobody needs a coin ) & you're willing to pay the price, then pay it & shut up. It's a free market place & there are always people with deeper pockets. Some people collecting cars are out of the running @ $50K...the chase is still fun!
As always, @panzerman, you don't disappoint! Nice coin, that you truly realize the value of, because you've taken the "steps" to acquire it.
