I have a serious question to ask if I can get some info I'm new at what I'm about to say. A buddy of mine works at a gas station his papaw just died we talked about coins before all this happened I have got coins there. Well I stopped in yesterday and asked me did I still looking for coins I told him yes so he told me what happened. He told me his papaw left him a bag of old coins plus there are silver in it. I'm asking you guys how do I aproach this I don't want to give alot for them I've not seen them yet I don't know what kinda off shape there in they might be nice red coins or in good shape but brown color i was getting to walk away from him told him we need to meet one day when we both can. So he said 3 cents a piece for the wheat Penny's I was like yeah that don't sound too bad and the silver I told him I have a set of scales I will give you junk price for the silver he said we will see I'm thinking they might be some key dates I don't know. What do you guys think about this who would you guys go buy doing this I don't want to do anything stupid. I really need some expert advice for real were you at Paddy I'm calling you out mountain man you two Mr Q collection nut expert there is some more soilder boy.

3 cents each is not out of line for wheats but you won't get any more than that out of them in resale unless there are some key/semi key dates or a lot of pre 30's dates. As for the silver I check the price on coinflation and then offer 20% off of that.

Just go see what he has. If your not sure dont buy. If you have questions take pics and come back here.

Tip: if you see multiple items you want lump them in a group and make a bulk offer.

Tell him you don't want to cheat him but you also can't pay too much! Ask him if you can take pictures then post them here in the what it's worth forum! I agree the 3 cents each for the wheat cents is an ok average if they are in decent shape! Good luck!

The best deals are made when both party's are happy with the outcome. Just like you don't want to be cheated, neither does your friend. Be fair and honest with him, while not screwing yourself in your attempt to be equitable.

Buddy I have around here I stopped and talked to him he is the biggest collector around here he has over 30 plus years in the store part so he been picking out of the cash register back when there were some good coins he goes to alot of convenience to sell trade or buy but he just goes to buy. Now he told me I would not give no more than 2 cents and I won't give junk price for the silver I believe I can bring this cat down a little I got to have room to make a little I'm rolling the dice there is a couple key dates in it and I don't need no book with me. I know all the key dates in wheat Penny's and the silver I really not worried about the silver I stock pile that stuff but you got to watch it a little bit it is trying to go down a little bit but gold and silver been doing this thing for years some times you got to lay on it. But I have a good feeling he said he not mess with coins for years so I'm looking for a couple of good dates if I can come up with a couple 1909 maybe a s or a 1922 weak d or no d would be great I done found the 1914d the other day in some one wheat Penny's collection in bank rolls 14 rolls ever one 45 wheat Penny's in a roll hit the jack pot that day and come up with some war nickles and a buffalo. But I will try to get you guys pictures of my very first coin collection that's been handed down to another person my first one I hope it pays off hek silver could be doallars or half doallars quarters dimes. I think I looked up the price of silver on a dime was like a 1 and 70 cents I'm out guys I got something else going on on errors I found a pretty little 69 s first one I seen in a while I have several but I looked it up on welexer it fits the oo2 I no this site ate about that sorry.

Dude, take a deeeeep breath and organize those thoughts before letting your fingers run wild. Maybe then I'll be able to understand what you're saying.

Until that happens, good luck with your dealings.

I think I know what you are trying to tell us. Just be prepared, in reality the key dates and major varieties have probably been removed from what you want to purchase.

One of the guys at our coin meeting bought 5 partial books of cents from an older gentleman that was looking to sell.
3 partial books of Indian head cents and 2 partial books of wheats.
Seller wanted a fair offer at $200.
We looked the books over and mostly common cents.
I noticed a 1914-D in better then average shape.
After that the buyer gave him an extra $50 because he thought that was a price he was comfortable with paying.
To this day we still don't know IF the 1914-D is real...the buyer wants to have it graded.

I warned him against the purchase price and sure wouldn't have thrown in an extra $50 without knowing 100% the 1914-D was legit.

Someday we will know, but if I was a betting man...I'd say a very good copy and I dont know enough to spend that amount of money on.
I did however buy his silver morgans, peace, IKE dollars and other random silver for $200
