Luxembourg 2007 - we didn't have the one euro cent yet, did we? If yes, sorry for the duplication. This one has the F in the left-most star on the obverse, which, I've just learned, means it was minted at the Paris Mint.

Russia, as in the Russian Federation, 2006, Moscow Mint, 10-rubles. There's a whole series of these for the different regions, nationalities, polities, et cetera. Siberian Man can likely explain it better than I.

2006 - another one of the Russian Federation coins commemorating an oblast this time. I think. Numista says "Chita Region" - but I am very confident that says oblast there on the reverse from about 5 o'clock to almost 3 o'clock. The one above, with the tiger on the reverse, commemorates Primorsky Krai ("Maritime Territory") - a region way out east.

@wittwolf - Schleswig-Holstein is your place of origin - or Germany? I'm curious but please ignore if that question abuses your sense of privacy in any way. I had an uncle in Hamburg who was employed by the BB. My cousin Birgit used to live in Schleswig-Holstein . . . I think. In any case, your 2-euro Schleswig-Holstein looks better than mine, I think.

This one commemorates (copy and pasted from Numista - Y# 942) САХАЛИНСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ (SAKHALIN REGION). I never equated 'oblast' with region before, but this is the second time I'm seeing that translation, so I will adopt.
