How rare is a PR70DCAM ASE?

I just got an advertisement from a bullion dealer for a pre-order of a PR70DCAM 2021-S ASE Type 2 for $599.00. Holy Moly, Batman...

I'm guessing a PR70DCAM designation is incredibly rare for coins from the mint?

Contact him and ask what he is paying for one in a PCGS/NGC slab. Please let us know if he replies.

The really sad thing is he will probably sell a couple of dozen at that price before the bloom wears off. It better have one of those special label designs too.

I asked in a reply to the email. I'll let you know if they reply or just laugh at me :)

Their example photo showed it in a PCGS slab with the blue/white label.

Can't be too rare. They sell them on pre-order and don't even have them in hand yet. They assume that X number of the ones they send in will be PR70DCAM or whatever other designation they are after.

...or they order. I don't think they assume anything.

Can you order pre-designated PR70 DCAM coins from the mint?
Or do you mean they may have gone through another third party for these instead of taking a chance with unknown direct orders from the mint? hmm. For that matter they could just simply order from the third party based on how many preorders they get - that many layers of middle-men could explain these prices.

    This could get complicated...

My limited understanding is that the authorized purchasers get large quantities from the US Mint. They send these to their TPGs and expect that a quantity of them will be PR70. So, they pre-sale them knowing that they will have some. I don't know if they get preferential grading or not. But, they probably get expedited service.

I would say it is probably one of those “Advanced Release” label coins. Same coin. Higher priced label.

I don't think that rare. Aren't thousands of them every year given that grade (er, graded) for the TV pitch-men and other hucksters who sell to the public...? I dunno...always figured they were plentiful for a price. After that, for some reason, it's not so easy to get that grade. I've had several over the years that I've submitted...new, semi-new and a few years older, but all still in the mint capsules plus all, to my eye, just as perfect/flawless as any huckster's slabbed wares (or a couple of 70 ASEs that I purchased to examine/compare)...but never was fortunate enough to get the grade...always came back a 69.

From the US mint no, on select issues from some world mints yes.

I was wrong. $625 if you pay with a CC. @Lem E was right, though. Looks like it's an advanced release.
