I posted a picture of this in another thread but I'm hoping to get some help figuring out what this is. I assumed Japanese but the characters around the date (11) don't match any emperors that I find a reference to. So I know it's Asian with Chinese/Japanese characters and a denomination of 5. I haven't been able to find anything that looks like this. Any ideas?
Japan Colony CHINA Manchukuo Manchuria 5 cents war 1945 pottery coin. I found 1 on Ebay in poor shape. Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Japan-Colo...-war-coin-1945-19mm-pottery-coin/202833780913 This same seller has a Japan Colony Manchukuo Manchuria 1 cent WWII world war II 1945 19mm pottery coin for sale.
All the sources on the internet seem to indicate this is actually made of some type of fiber. If so it's not how I expected it to be.
I don't know what the chemical composition of the coin is. Most references that I am aware mention that its fiber. Its still a pretty neat coin and worth more than a few dollars. The Chinese used to call it paper coin because this coin is not pretty when it gets soaked in water.
