To clarify, the comment about the Internet has to do with the fact that I'm not sure that bidders on the auction floor have access to the same wireless network that Heritage is using. Our IT people would know more. BTW, there is at least an outside chance that I will be calling said Fort Worth auction. If this happens, they will probably need to disable the video to save wear and tear on coin collectors' computer screens everywhere.
I thought it was a great show, with lots of energy! My full report is posted here (minus photos which will come as soon as Todd sends them to me!): http://www.cointalk.com/t87307/ I watched part of the auction on line - there were some really great coins in this auction. Here is one of the coins I won from the Heritage auction (Todd's photo will be much better of course!):
I never have the opportunity to attend major shows but I watch carefully from the internet. My purchases consisted of my typical Jefferson Nickel material. 1942-S Jefferson Nickel PCGS MS67 Rainbow Toned 1942-S 5C MS67 PCGS. PCGS Population (58/0). NGC Census: (1230/4). Mintage: 32,900,000. Quintessential war nickel toning of iridescent lime green and cobalt blue and a rainbow band of green, lemon yellow, and bright orange at the top of the obverse. The reverse is mostly gold toned with touches of rainbow colors at the bottom of the reverse which shows a correspondence between the obverse and reverse toning all but ensuring originality. 1943-P Jefferson Nickel PCGS MS65 DDO "Doubled Eye Variety" 1943-P 5C Doubled Die Obverse MS65 PCGS. PCGS Population (44/43). 1945-P Jefferson Nickel DDR FS-030 1945-P 5C Doubled Die Reverse MS65 PCGS. PCGS Population (56/10). NGC Census: (5/6). I also had a great time bidding and tracking the sale of the San Francisco collection of classic commemoratives. You can read about it here in this link. http://www.cointalk.com/t87452/ From what I saw, these were the best prices I have seen at a Heritage auction in a while.
I had never heard of Genaitis before so I Googled it. Appears that's an indication of provenance. Sort of like "Omaha Bank Hoard" but much better. Now I'm REALLY jealous. Lehigh96, your two War nickel varieties did it to me. I've got the 43/2-P but now I'm going to have to look around for those two DD's. Really very nice. Congrats.
