1971 s Lincoln cent

    Hello again I find out here in coin talk there's a lot of information on questions that I need answered although I may not understand it all but that's part of the learning process and with the help from you and should get even better with that I have a 1971 s Lincoln cent I am still trying to distinguish machine doubling from an actual double die your help would be much appreciated thank you

    Pictures are to blurry to tell.Im not seeing any doubling although its a nice Frisco indeed.

    Can You point out where you see doubling?

    Also.. The correct Numismatic Terminology is Doubled Die.. Not double die. Big difference.

    Doubled Die Varieties occur when the working die is made. The working die is struck twice by the master die (really a double squeeze). So that when there is a doubling error on the working die (hence the name doubled die) that doubling gets transferred to every coin struck by that working die.

    Yes, please supply in-focus close-ups of the area you suspect the doubling. And, use Variety Vista and Wexler to find acknowledged doubled die varieties. 1971…it should be listed at one or the other, if not both, after 50 years…imo…Spark

    Identification of DDO coins like yours is usually done by comparison of your coin to the photos of the ones list on this site, using a 10 x loupe.

    I probably posted it somewhere else still getting the hang of this I got to get better pics I was giving some ideas on how to take better pics you people are just full of information thanks
