Is there a premium on Proof Eagles and Proof Commemorative Gold U.S. Mint products from the 1980's and 1990's? Got a guy wanting to sell me some and not sure about the value. Thanks.

Better to go with uncirc's.......less premium and less mintage, especially with the commems.

It depends. When it comes to the AGEs some dates do carry more of a premium than other dates. And with some commems same kind of thing, some carry a larger or even much larger premium than others.

The best way to find out which is which is to look them on Heritage and check the realized auction prices - then compare them to each other.

Thanks everyone. Refiner pays 99% of spot on mint products and a major dealer is only paying spot. Just seems like there should be some higher, if only slightly higher, value on proof gold. Thanks again.

Just worth spot when selling to a dealer.

Ehh, unless its a PF70. There is typically a premium on the private market, but to dealers and smelters, gold is gold.
