Here's a pair of Bust halves I recently acquired. I really like the CircCam appearance on the 1829. I welcome your comments, and assistance with the Overton varieties, if you are so inclined.

Nice circs! The 1829 appears to be O-105,

Nice coins. The 29 is indeed O-105 and the 30 looks to be O-115.

The 115 often comes with a rotated reverse die. How about yours?

Love the 29, but the 30 had a cleaning at some point in life as did most.

Thanks for showing your coin. I don't know if anyone is like me, but, I can't remember every coin in my collection, especially the ones my father left me. I did some searching in my file, and I do have an 1833 Capped Bust. Now I have to go look at it to see what shape she is in. Again, Thanks.

I concur, but do think it falls within “market acceptable” parameters, given, as you pointed out, the fact that most have gotten a dip or two over time.

Which also makes the nice, presumably original coins like the 1829 stand out, I think.

Appears to have normal "coin" rotation. Thanks again for the attribution help.

There is two things I always look for in these coins. One is the Curl and the other is the shoulder clasp. They wear nicely and well circulated versions have nice wear patterns and tone. But I am not a die and variety expert. I just like looking at the and holding them in my hand. These are coins people held on to in order to save money and build wealth. Folks had an entirely different relationship with these coins that todays change. For kicks, you cxna just ... spend one at McDonalds and see the reaction. Record it with your camera and post it.

    Yours are very lovely!

Even though it’s not rotated, it must be O-115, as star 13 on the obv is very close to the bust. Looking at the two other possible varieties with matching T/I alignment, star 13 is further away. No other reverse dies were used with this obverse.

Not always rotated, but mine happens to be. The rub of a slab 63 (in other words it has the details of an AU-58), but after one too many trips through the dip bowl it has the luster of a low AU. Back into a Kraft envelope for the next few years.

I like 'em both, but especially the look of the 1829. On the 1830, is the 0 in the date as made, or is that some pmd?
