Gerry Fortin has a nice consignment of proof seated dimes on his site. I don't have many dimes or half dimes... they're so small!.... but I thought it would be fun to have one as an exemplar of the type. So here is one, PR66 cameo, cac, for your viewing pleasure.
I'm jealous, dimes are my thing, small as they may be . Just perused the site; some very nice coins there, congrats on snagging one.
Well chosen survivor. As a collector of the denomination and six years into the series, so many of these proofs are available far below where they should be realistically. Personally, I like them looking as your's does, with a nice golden tone that makes the cameo devices pop. What I find fascinating about them is how they survived all these years and in what environment they were stored.
I can see how people get hooked on these. There's just a little bit of die wear so you get cartwheel under a light, then at another angle you have a mirror reflection, then the background turns dark and the cameo pops. An awful lot of fun for such a small coin.
