An S-VDB in pocket change would be nice! There are a couple coins that I could use to finish out the Wheaties set, but the S-VDB is the one that I'm not sure is gonna happen any time soon.
A $4 Stella, any $2.50, $5.00 or $10.00 gold piece before 1840, any Southern mint gold coin, a Chain cent, and any Flowing Hair silver coin are always on my Christmas list, but Santa never pays attention to it. All he ever brings me are a couple of pairs of socks and a necktie
That dang 1934-D PCGS MS64 Buffalo Nickel that I cannot remember where I last put it. When I find it - I hope the 1944 and 1945 proof Jefferson's are with it.
I bought my dad's safe for $3000.00, and that included everything that was in there. Some of those gems in there included a 1909 S VDB in XF condition, a 1916D Mercury dime, and the complete set of Peace dollars. And that's just to name a few. The reason he "sold it" to me was that he didn't trust his other children, and he knew I was the only one who could afford to pay that amount. Plus, I am the only coin collector of his children. So, he wanted to make sure that I got them without "giving" the coins to me.
How about three: 1905 proof half dollar in 64 Fully struck Type 2 SLQ FH in 64/65 AU seated dollar Been looking for a few years now.
I have only two coins that I just can't find and both are nickels. 1) 1943/2-P Jefferson Nickel MS66+ with rainbow toning (preferably FS). 2) 1937-D 3 Legged Buffalo MS63/64 with attractive (star designation quality) rainbow toning. I did find a 3 legger that I really liked, but alas, it was out of my price range. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1116&Lot_No=833
I'm gonna go with a 1873 Open 3 Two Cent, only proof production, looking for a 64 grade. Just don't remember how long I've been looking for an affordable one, oh, at the same time I had the funds.
I've been trying to cherry an 1802C-1 (reverse of 1800), 1804 C-2, 1806 C-3, or 1797 C-3c (the gripped edge) half cent for a few years. Hell, there's the 1794 C-6b while I'm at it, but since only one of those exists I'm not holding my breath there. If affordable examples of any of those turned up and I had the money I'd drop it.
Besides finishing my Peace Dollar collection, I have a list of about 8 coins I would like to acquire, ranging in value from $50 to $1000. That being said, I would love to secure a piece of Colonial era New Jersey copper.
