Here are some more from the bottom of the cabinet. Look at all the die cracks on the reverse of the 1843-P.
This is an "almost really nice" Flowing Hair Half Dollar. Much beyond this grade, EF-45, and these coins get to be very pricey. The Draped Bust, Small Eagle type, 1796-7, is the "big stopper" for most type collectors. The coin will cost you 5 figures even in low grade. This was the last coin I needed to complete the half cent through dollar type set. This was one of the first early coins that I bought for my collection. The auction catalog had it graded AU-50. It is now in an AU-58 holder. The dies were shallow which left the coin with less detail than you might think it should have.
I looked everywhere to find where the Mint sold 2017S Reverse Proof Kennedy Half Dollars. Can you give me a hint? The only one I found was in the 2014 Kennedy Anniversary Set.
I don't think that it's a Reverse Proof. It looks more like a Matte Proof. Here's an odd ball coin from 1998. It's the 1998-S Matte Proof that was issued with the Robert Kennedy commemorative dollar two piece set. This coin used to be a big deal. Here is the commemorative silver dollar that went with it.
