They look quite nice - obviously circulated because I found them in circulation, but high AU grades at that. One 2019 River Of No Return and one 2020 Salt River Bay.

5 cwr of quarters... nothing of interest.

 

So this is not a roll find per say, but definitely something I wanted to share. I picked up what I thought was a trash 1909 VDB off the web for a buck and you can see what it looked like (first pic). I have a couple others in better condition already, but hey it was a buck. I looked at it under the old microscope, and thought I might have seen something among the pock marks, so I did an experiment and soaked the thing in some white vinegar for a few days. I know, I know, I would not have done this if the coin was not already trashed, and it looked like it had been cleaned by someone else before me. So after a few days of soaking and rinsing off the excess acid, I went back to the microscope and I think I found an S.

I fiddled with the contrast and drew some lines to compare with the known mint mark locations and it matches the one perfectly. Now I know there is still a chance this is not the battered and beaten holy grail, but it looks fairly convincing to me. So what do you all think?

Stopped by my credit union to cash out a bag of change that had been accumulating over the past few weeks. After I used the coin machine I cashed out the slip and asked if they had any halves, Ikes, $2s etc. This was all they had:

I had to do all I could to contain my excitement!

 

I have admittedly been "out of the game" for awhile, so today I brought cookies to my favorite head teller (and the entire bank staff, obviously). She said she would try to order Ikes for me this week despite the "coin shortage". She pointed out the courier is mainly restricting dime and quarter orders. If she can get me Ikes again, then they will arrive next week...Fingers crossed.

My banks never have half dollars have never found a silver half for FV all other coins are scarce to.The same excuse COIN SHORTAGE which I think is all a cover up.

 

Okay, I let it sit for another day or two and I am more convinced now that this is an S. It is pretty hard to get the light right to take a picture, but I think I got it pretty close, and it holds up under naked eye, magnifier and digital microscope. Last image has an overlay of a known 1909 S VDB to show how the shape matches up.
