Oh, I know they've covered themselves in their terms and conditions, I'm just saying I wholeheartedly disagree with their policy.

Or are they covered? I don't ever remember signing anything that confirms that I've read their terms and conditions. They just ask "Do you want to insure this?" Maybe they do have that on their new LCD signature screens, but I don't remember seeing it. Maybe it's on the back of the receipt, but I don't see that until after I've paid for the insurance. Or maybe the USPS is just special because they're a government agency and can get away with things that most private businesses wouldn't be able to.

Or maybe I just have a grudge against the USPS. The USPS office in Frankfurt, Germany (not my local mail room) would sell insurance on packages that people were sending home to the US. I sent a huge (and very expensive for a private in the Army) package that contained all sorts of gifts to my family for Christmas. It never got there. I went to them with my insurance receipt in hand and wanted to file a claim, but they told me they had no way of knowing if it went missing in the APO system or the USPS system, and as such, the USPS wasn't liable.

I gave birth to a cow right there on the spot. Every single one of the packages that left that facility went through the APO and the USPS offered insurance to every soldier sending packages home. I asked them if it would apply if the items were damaged, and they said no. If the insurance was essentially worthless, then why sell it?!?!? What a rip off!

it is also possible to underinsure, sent a stereo out, value 325 with shipping, arrived destroyed even though i double boxed and used peanuts and heavy foam...they gave me 50.00 after like a 2 month wait, am currently claiming a package i did in fact ship, but never was scanned at the post office, this was priority as well...

i had bought square trade insurance on a used transmission worth 700, the tranny went kaput, the guy on ebay refunded for the motor, but the square trade insurance, (which said: "all labor, incidental, blah blah blah, so figured it would pay for the mechanic to remove and reinstall a new one, nope, when i sent in claim, they saisd: "no, labor is not included, ") they did give me the 89.95 back that i paid on the policy..it is a scam, stay away from square trade>>!!!
