Hello. I wanted to get an opinion on this 1943-D Steel Cent. I know steel cents are not really valuable coins but I wanted to get your thoughts.
The only interesting bit of this is that it may have a re-punched mint mark. Look here: 1943-D RPMs (varietyvista.com)
I kinda thought maybe it was inspector43 but even if it was I guess it’s just junk at this point. I thought his cheek looked kinda strange, Mac McDonald. I got this one and a similar looking 1943 in the same roll.
It is junk if what you were looking for was a coin that you could profit from or post as rare or scarce. If you were looking for a piece of numismatic history, a piece that you could add to a collection of US coins, a piece that truly represents a period of US coinage then you found it. I think it is a great piece and have several similar.
Welcome @Katherine Reed. Just FYI, if you wish to let a member know they are mentioned or quoted, put a @ in front of their name. And as for photos, please click "Full Image" after you upload your photos so they show up in the post without having to click on anything. It also lets us enlarge them easily. Good luck.
Many were replated with zinc to give a shiny " New" appearance to the coin. You can tell by looking at the edge. If the edge is shiny or new looking, it is reprocessed and is just a cent. If the edge has a gray dull finish it may be the 1943 condition and have a value above a cent. Jim
A definite keeper but that about all. Looks replated and polished. Nice find for a roll hunt. Welcome to CT.
