I have looked at pictures and watched videos but I still have trouble differentiating double die and machine doubling. I also wanted to ask about the crack going through the O? Is that a type of error?
I believe I'm seeing a ridge ring so DDD-die deterioration doubling, worthless.Whats going on around the O looks like a die crack possibly an IDB.
Looks like a die crack going by that "O" but can we please see the entire obverse and reverse of your coin?
Thanks for posting full photos of your coin. I'll look at them tomorrow when the light is better. I thought you might find the below chart useful. It was posted on CoinTalk by another member and I have referred to it a few times. Unfortunately, I can not remember who posted it first. I do see some information about the source of it in the lower left corner; but, alas, my peepers don't allow me to see it clearly. I hope you find it helpful.
You’ve also some chipping in the leaves on one of the wheat stalks, the one to our Left. Compare it to the other one, and you’ll see it. It’s the part that’s a “lump.” That’s not wear. Rather, the detail on the die chipped out along that area.
I've come across many zinkers like that. Some even have the zinc core exposed where the portion of the "ghost" digits/letters are.
