Not an error, I know, but I get a more targeted audience for my question in here. :)

This is very clearly shelf-like machine doubling (on a clearly worn die, too). What's strange (to me) is that it's only on relief items that are closer to the center, not on characters towards the rim.

I've not seen this behavior before and it makes me wonder if I'm looking at die deterioration doubling instead. Or is this just some weird machine doubling that only caught the 19 and TY and Abe? Is that a thing?

Only machine doubling on the 19 and on Abe himself here, not on the 58 or mm

    Only minor md on TY

    Nothing on reverse

Is this random MD normal? I'm having trouble trying to figure out how the die bounced up and restruck(?) only the 19 on 'between-bounces' movement...

It appears to be Die deterioration doubling to me from overuse. Jim

Yep the whole obverse is showing the radial lines and over polishing with the letters migrating towards the rim, so the die's definitely overused. Even the apparent tiny chip at the top of the 1 shows it. It's just that strange doubling on 19 threw me for a loop.

    Thanks for your insight Jim.
