We continue along in my PCGS sub. This is part 2 of 5. Please guess the original grade and the new grade (originally NGC and now PCGS). Are they the same or different? Here I am including two photos (PCGS TrueView and the photos from Great Collections in the original holder).
The true view shows the richness of the toning more so....ngc65.... Pcgs has an affinity for rich natural toning 67 maybe 67+or 67*
Neither photo is flattering, so I am at MS65.If it wasn't for the age of toning, I might go 66 maybe a 67. depending on the in hand luster. The central mark on the cheek is distracting
Nice toning, but there’s simply not enough luster for a BU grade. Strike is not impressing me either. Maybe it’s the pictures, but I don’t see why others suggest grades as high as MS67+ ? I’d say MS64 star (NGC) before, MS64+ (PCGS) now.
I suck at guessing on well toned coins like this. Given the lack of distracting marks I'd go with the coin going from 65 to 66.
I'll extend this one (possibly until tomorrow). @Morgandude11 @jtlee321 and others still need to guess too.
I don't want to come off harsh on this one. The texture of the cheek is bugging me. If I was to look at it under a loupe, I would have a better feel for it. But, from what I think I am seeing, I would say 63 original and 63 regrade. I very well could be wrong.
