1943 War Nickel

    My understanding is that all war nickels are Silver. I'm not really sure about this one but it looks to have remnants of maybe zinc plating. It's very hard to see but when I look at this through an eye loop it looks like maybe it's been struck by something else. Just wanted to get someones opinion. Hopefully the pictures are ok.     Environmental Damage. A few of my 7 metal detected Silver war nickels look worse than yours.

    Most likely a Silver Halide deposit from reaction of the silver with salt water. Jim
