The recent thread on an 1821 half reminded me that I have this example I've been wanting to have attributed and graded for some time.

What do you guys think, VF? cleaned?

    Okay, I agree with O-104.

However, there is a die crack thru the 0 C, and at the top of TAT in States.

So, since the die crack should be 'UNITED STAT" This is a mid point between O-104 and O-104a

    O-104 = R-1

    O-104a = R-2

    So not a big difference

    VF30 market acceptable straight grade.

I like the coin and would grade it VF30, but it could grade VF-details/cleaning, too.

I'm in the VF 25 to 30 range with very lite cleaning. It looks like a soap and water cleaning. Not nasty and very common on early coins. I don't think it affects the coins value much either. Nice coin. I like it.

I'm thinking 30 and old light cleaning, would probably straight grade
