Hi guys, I have this 1989 P Roosevelt Dime and notice on the reverse some raised areas metal. Is this due to a worn die? If so, then my question is why do the fields on the obverse and reverse have no die flow lines or issues?? Why is it only concentrated in this one area?
Those are striation marks/lines. Cause by a worn die. A couple of them may be from a die cleaning (not polishing). Feeder finger mark are always straight and parallel to each other, if you can see more than one.
I also believe it is a worn die. There could be some inhomogeneities in the die steel due to the annealing process and those areas have eroded more than the surrounding steel. Cool coin
