Wrong metal alloy. They can call them what they want to, but just another modern commem...same size, weight, alloy, etc. The mint even calls it a commem. I tried for 20 mins. to get in but no luck...never even saw a add to cart button. I think I'm blackballed from buying anything like these...I can only buy the junk stuff which I don't even want. I'll wait till these drop to around $50, then maybe buy one.
Did you make sure to refresh the page? If you try to wait until they drop to $50 you’ll never get one. Trust me I know someone who was waiting until the V75 Proof ASE stopped to $50. He is still waiting and the price went up not down since then.
It takes patience and maybe 7 or 8 years to get the price...I havn't missed having anything yet...one will turn up in a 66 0r 67 grade. Kinda reminds me of the Kennedy gold half dollar which is barely over spot these days. I'll still try logging on at 8:00 AM or they might notify me...who knows?
I definitely think it would be popular once it has some age on it. Like today people like Morgan Dollars partly because of their history. They are over 100 years old. Well one day these will be too. Every coin in existence was a modern coin at some point. Only time will tell.
Congats to all who were successful! As for me, I struck out. Even when I got a peace dollar in my basket with my address and other info, I kept getting gateway and handshake errors. On my last attempt, I got a "page not found." At 12:30 the peace dollar was unavailable
I cannot find anywhere the Mint referred to these as "commems". In fact, I recall the Mint saying that it had the legal authority to mint these because they are a continuation of an authorized coin. Commems are specifically authorized by Congress to commemorate a person, place, or event.
Like I say...call it what you want, The coins commemorate the 100TH aniv. of Morgan and Peace dollars and I seriously doubt they will be struck in future years. Too bad they are made with modern technology and lack the look of the originals.
?? I don't understand your question, but I think yes...the all say one dollar on them, and all are legal currency.
