I found this in a roll it looks like it has steel in it it wait is lot less than most of my 69 I checked a bunch of them and this one is alot litter than the rest plus it has the look is it possible that it got hit on a wrong planchette.
It wais 2.91 it just keeps going down just while I wrote this it went down to 2.88 just keep going down 2.87 2.86 very light wonder what it got hit on something different cause all my other have a different color plus they all wait is 3.11 dead on what they post to way this coin is different.
The blanks were cut from a sheet that was probably rolled a little thin. It is a well circulated Cent, nothing more. If it was steel it would stick to a magnet If it was struck on a wrong planchet, what do you suggest as to where the planchet came from that was the exact size of a Cent planchet. What coins did the Mint strike for others that had the same specifications as a Cent planchet.
I don't know expat I know if heard of it happened to coins cut off the wrong metal for a nother county coin I don't know for sure if they was making other coins in 1969 I'm sure they was and the thinks on the coin is the same as a regular coin I don't know what is up with it I know it ways a lot less I'm going to keep it you never know could be something I might be able to find something else about it it's way too light its dark but it ant a bad looking coin for real.
Looks like it's been sitting at the bottom of a fountain or koi pond for a while. That's how most of them look after a few years sitting at the bottom in fresh water. I worked for the city of Colma Ca a number of years ago. The fountains were always full of pennies from people "making a wish" and tossing them in. We'd have to remove them occasionally because they would build up and clog the water inlets. When we pulled some out and they would dry, this is exactly how they would look. Covered in fine dried sediment.
