    Hi guys,

I have this 2002 D Roosevelt Dime and noticed that the top rim is very thin and smooth. The reeded edge is also very thin (see photo dime on right). I would like to know what is happening with this dime. Is this a certain error or just due to a Misaligned Die on the Obverse?

    Misaligned Die Strike.
I've seen the issue occur more on Dimes than on any other denomination.

Maybe because it’s the smallest coin so it’s harder to be precise?

Just a guess. I have no idea.

A nice MAD. I got one in change today myself.

MAD and not fully struck so the edge didn't fill. Only the center portion of the edge made contact withthe collar and the striking ended before the metal had a chance to filler the edge/rims leaving what I call "bevels". If the strike had lasted longer the edge would have filled and gotten wider and the rims would have filled and in the process the bevels get smaller and finally disappear.
