I really don't like posting "what is this" threads but after weeks of unsuccessfully trying to figure this one out I decided to pick a slow day to see if anyone can help. Anyways, here it is:

Probably Apollo on the obverse and maybe a seated Tyche within wreath reverse. The city name is most likely above the wreath but it is unintelligible. The coin is 16mm and 3.4gms.

To make it a little more interesting I've also made this an "identify it and it is yours" contest.

I wonder if, from the orientation of the leaves of the wreath, the reverse is upside down?

I'm going with Unrecorded similar to this but with head left.

I'm sorely lacking in Greek ID skills.
I only can tell that there is a head left on the obverse and a wreath and tripod on the reverse :)
Looking forward to seeing who ID's it.

Pavlos You pick out the big men. I'll make them brave!

There is indeed a wreathed tripod on the reverse. @ancientone I do not think it is from Zakynthos island, the coinage is extremely rare, which would make an unpublished variety even more rare. Also the style of both Apollo and the tripod is not characteristic for the island, plus it is missing the ethnics.

I would say it has more the style of Thrace, I have seen coins with similar styled Apollo's.

Note that the Apollo - Tripod combination is one of the most common combinations on Greek coins. Without any visible ethnics, or the I-A ethnics for Zakynthos (which is on the coin above as well), I would be careful attributing it.

@Pavlos - Wishful thinking on my part. I recalled a few types from the Peloponnese with the wreath/tripod combination so I checked my copy of BCD then scoured acsearch and this was the closest match. I did notice a possible Z-A surrounding the tripod but I think it is to far gone to be sure.

Oh well, maybe a bad coin for an "identify to win" contest. Still, when you see this central figure within the wreath you don't necessarily think upside-down tripod.
