Today the 2021 Peace Dollar is going up for sale. I am not a tech savvy fellow and I would like one, though not so much that I want to drive myself to the loonie bin trying to secure one. I have purchased several items from the mint but never a hot item like these. I have seen post after post of mint site aggravation here. Turn off this browser, load that one and convince some digital policeman that I am a person.. So on and so forth...

So say you are teaching your kid to drive. Step on the brake, put the key in the ignition... The basics. If I want a Peace dollar without drinking heavily (I am at work).... What's the basics to getting in and getting the job done?

Good luck. The mint website is a steaming pile of trash on a good day. It's a flaming dumpster fire whenever they try to sell something like this...

The last time I tried to buy something from them was the first 2 Morgan releases. Made it as far as the check out page. Put my info in and then sat and spun until they were sold out. Vowed to never buy direct from the mint again.

Wish I could give you some tips and tricks but the best I can do is wish you good luck and god speed. You're gonna need a hefty does of each I think.

Good Luck Randy. I have been collecting US coins for over 70 years. The mint has made it so difficult that I have given up on new releases.

Ive had luck when I’ve tried to purchase from the Mint.

I was able to pickup the V75, and so far all the 2021 Morgans released.

Having said that there are only a few “tricks” I can recommend as most of it really is luck and hoping your order makes it through the avalanche of other people’s orders.

1st I recommend auto filling your address and saving your credit card info so you can put them in quickly without having to type and retype it each time.

2nd I recommend using a desktop computer over an IPad or cellphone or something slower that makes it take longer to process and refresh if needed.

Just remember EVERYONE is dealing with the same frustration. Your order might not go through. Or the page might freeze. It might make you prove you’re a human or it might temporarily ban you..

I have never had a smooth order. I always had to refresh and go back and put the info in again and eventually I end up getting lucky just once and my order does go through on one of my many attempts.

Aside from that I plan on buying a couple extras to sell on the forums for the same $85 price as the Mint + shipping since I’m not trying to profit. I just want to get them into the hands of people who will keep them and not resell them since I could do that myself if I wanted.

I managed to nab 3 of the D & S Mint mark ones and plan on doing the same with them when they arrive.

At first with the CC and O privy I only bought 1 of each because I wanted to give others a chance but then I realized they would probably be bought by dealers to resell so I decided I will buy extras myself and then I can sell them to people who want to keep them and help those people by not making them pay double to a reseller.

WOW. ... I’m just an ordinary Amoeba myself, but i’ve had NO trouble getting both the Type2 ASE and the new Morgan. Like I did both of those times I’ll just start getting ready 5-minutes before and as soon as it goes on sale I will casually type in my order and hope to succeed.

That is how it’s worked both times before.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention this.

Don’t forget the mintage on the 2021 Peace Dollar is 200,000.

Whereas the mintage on the Morgans is 175,000.

So you definitely have an advantage over those going for the Morgans. 25,000 coins is a lot when you have a 3 coin limit. That’s over 8,000 extra orders even if everyone bought the maximum of 3.

I use google chrome sometimes and it has my debit card memorized and unlocked once I type the CCV. ‘Autofill’ is fantastic also. I’m hoping that will make it easier for me.

Open the browser in 'incognito' mode (Chrome). You'll have better luck.

Well, I will be attempting to get a Peace dollar for myself today (and might end up with extras if I'm lucky.) I was successful last year with the V75 Silver Eagle (which, frankly, was a dumpster fire of a sales process.)

My key was persistence - I kept trying, kept reloading, kept NOT hitting my computer, until I was successful. It was SO bad that we both actually gave up after 5-10 minutes of endless CAPTCHA nonsense (which I totally believe was to keep regular people occupied while bigger fish got to feed first.) I came back, though, and was able to finally get through...as was my wife. We also figured out that my wife and I both trying at the same time over the same WiFi was getting us pegged as bots, so I connected to my phone's mobile hotspot to get through.

A bottle of scotch and a prayer. I couldn't get any Morgans last week as the checkout process verification stage repeatedly failed. As far as I'm concerned it's a crap shoot. Maybe I'm just too full of it.

My rural internet provider switches between multiple IP addresses which I believe may be causing my issues. I had to drop Hulu-live because of this.

I secured a 2021-W Proof ASE T2 last month. I calmly went online just before noon...I think I had to refresh only once, and the order went thru. It still says "Processing...". I just called the Mint - no wait on the phone, and she assured me they were shipping anything that says "Processing". You do know you can get subscriptions (enrollments) for the ASE's (standard issues; regular strike & proofs) and they just send them to you? They just announced the new RP set coming on the 24th @ 125K sets. Good luck! But seriously if you want the standard ASE releases - just do the enrollment thing. You can even send them out for grading and save $$ by not buying a pre-graded coin which costs a lot more. Course you may not always get a 70... Cheers!

That's interesting - because my dad (who lives just on the edge of the "civilized" world - subdivisions with high speed internet are less than a half mile away, but he has to suffer with awful Internet access) was able to get one (turned into my birthday present.)

I gave up on Mint orders YEARS ago. It's supposed to be a "hobby" and fun. That site takes ALL the fun away.

I bet it’s because the CC had a limit of 10 and the rest have a limit of only 3.

If a bunch of resellers are buying 10 at a time they will sell out much faster.

Weird thing is even on Ebay the CC is selling way more than the others even though they all have exactly the same mintage.

People are forgetting that CCs only come with a premium on the old school Morgans.

Not sure why you want overpriced silver and the aggravation that goes with trying to obtain one but best wishes to you. If I really wanted one I’d talk to my LCS.

Yes, this one of the reasons why I only buy one or two new mint items per year, and usually those items are something no one else wants, like the current Proof set in silver or a current commemorative coin set.

I hope to get lucky this morning, but I'm not optimistic. If I don't get the Peace Dollar, I'll go to my local dealer and shop for my local club's door prizes and paid drawing items this afternoon. I won't have to fight anyone to buy those.

I do have three Peace Dollars in my collection, and if the 2021 turns into a $300 + monster in the secondary market, I'll pass. Besides, five years from now it could be selling for less than the issue price if silver has not gone to $80 an ounce.

Don't try to put any logic into the thought processes of people who collect modern coins from the mint. There is none. Those 2021 "CC Morgan Dollars" were struck at the Philadelphia Mint and are nothing but a gimmick. The Carson City Mint had been closed for 28 years when the 1921 Morgan Dollars were issued. It had nothing to do with the 1921 dated coins.
