Went to the Vienna, VA show yesterday to see my favorite dealer and picked up a few. This one for the nice portrait and the reverse tribute to Augustus. Titus 73-81, laureate bust R Denarius, Rome 73 Radiate figure stop column TRPVIII IMP XIIII COS VII PP The Triumvirs. Octavian. Autumn 30-summer 29 BC. AR Denarius (19.4mm, 3.46 g, 8h). Italian (Rome?) mint. Laureate head of Octavian, as Apollo, right / Rostral column ornamented with two anchors and six beaks of galleys, surmounted by a statue of Octavian, holding spear and parazonium. CRI 423; RIC I 271 (Augustus); RSC 124 (Augustus). VF, roughness, with some attempted smoothing on the obverse. Post your newps or Titus or coins that share designs, whatever you want. Jim
Nice coin and interesting to pair with the Augustus. I wonder who is your favorite dealer and hope to be able to see several at the Fredericksburg show in September. That is assuming that it is not cancelled again this year. Fredericksburg 2019 was my last show. The winter shows got snow and then there was Covid. Your Augustus reminds me of one of my favorite fourrees. They share the anepigraphic obverse.
Its Andy Singer. You would probably really like the Vienna show. It’s small but close to half of the dealers there have ancients.
Great pick up, also one of my Titus favorites. itus, 79 AD, denarius Rome 3.41gm, radiate figure on rostral column, S2509, RIC 10, RSC 272,
