I don't mean to steal moonshines idea, but I think it would be best to combine these ideas into one thread for best results. So, kudos goes to moonshine for the idea of a monthly split. If someone has a better idea, we'll just have to get peter(the founder) to start an official thread with all the ideas, or just ditch the whole idea altogether.

Since we now have an entire forum all to ourselves, I thought I would see what everyone thinks about how to manage the roll searching results. I think it would be best if we found a way to organize the forum so we aren't too condensed or too cluttered. Below is an explanation for each option:

    1. Close the large, current roll searching results thread, and start several individual threads for each denomination. We would end up with one thread for pennies, one for nickels, one for dimes, one for quarters, and one for halves.

    2. Close the large, current roll searching results thread, and start a new thread at the START of each month. All denominations would go into this thread.

    3. Close the large, current roll searching results thread, and start a new thread at the START of each month where all denominations would go into. As well as a thread at the END of each month for Monthly results.

    4. Close the large, current roll searching results thread, and start individual threads for each denomination, as well as a new thread at the END of each month for monthly totals.

    5. Keep the gigantic roll-searching results thread as it is, so most of the results go into one thread.

    6. Don't care.

    7. I have my own idea.

I hope this covers every option because I really don't want to write another poll. This was hectic enough!

Personally, I think that Moonshines idea of a new thread every month is the best one. That thread can contain all denominations for the month. Hopefully everyone doesn't start posting a million thread of their finds. If there is a find worthy of a seperate thread or a coin(s) that needs it's own thread, so be it.

As for keeping it the same and continuing to use the big thread - if that is what people want to do - why did we/they ask that Coin Roll Hunting have it's own forum? If thats the case, we could have kept it under the US forum.

We finally unchained ourselves from chicken_little's autarkical imperium. Let's celebrate!

I think it is cool that they have started a seperate thread for penny searching as it seems like a different breed then silver searching, but we might as well keep halves, quarters, dimes and nickels all together b/c the goal is the same; magical, wonderful, shiny, SILVER!!!

I would vote for a silver thread, a penny thread, and that each have a respective thread for monthly results.

    -edit-
I'm not knocking pennies BTW, I do enjoy searching them too!

That's another good idea I didn't think of. I agree, we need to find an organized way to post all our results so this forum doesn't turn into a huge mess, but having one single thread for all of them is out of date.

i completely agree with model77. Silver in one and pennies in another.

Edit: However, what will discourage newbies from posting in the older thread and none of us answering them? hmm...

Yeah, it's probably time to lock that thing up once we figure out what to do in terms of new threads.

I favor the big thread with no changes. I don't want to have to check 15 different threads....that's just my 2 cents...

You all must be assuming the admin staff is large and always available, which of course is not so, but pre-existing conditions ( Before my time) apply as to what can or can not be done.

First of all any member can post in any forum and any thread they choose whether it is on subject of not.

Only the admin staff can move a posting if it is for Staff reasons ( and do not always do it , even if the posting member asks ( unless it violates forum rules) .

There is also authority needed to close or delete any thread, or edit any thread or post ( except for a short time the poster can edit their own , and then it locks).

There are quite a few groups already who think the staff is to serve the desires of their like kind of collecting, when it is up to the administrators who decided what forums exist.

Most of you are probably aware of these conditions, but some may not be, so I just bring them up before a lot of effort goes forth. Best wishes, Jim

    2012, but who's counting?

I'm not sure exactly when the CRH forum was created, but I think it was around this time, and possibly as a response to threads like this.
