Large Cent & An IHC

Not sure if I posted these so here they are. A beautiful 1855 Large Cent.

Here’s the 1907 Indian Head Cent.

 

High quality "common" 20th century IHCs are good values now (imo). The same goes for high quality "common" Buffalo Nickels. Everyone has to have a high quality example of each of these coin types.

I probably looked at that large cent ten times this afternoon. That is an extremely attractive large cent.

 

Thanks Randy. It is one of the nicest ones I think I’ve ever seen. I love the details and the color of it.

 

The color is what draws me as well and it is just a superb strike.

 

The last Large Cent was 1857 so almost there. Mine is the upright 5 variety. The Red Book says that original sketches of engraver James B. Longacre’s work reveal that the slanting 5’s were a peculiarly of his. The upright 5’s are believed to be the work of an apprentice.
