I'm interested in finding the number of Kennedy halves minted in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. My 2004 coin books stop providing numbers around the year 2000. I've searched some on the Internet and visited a few of the more popular sites but couldn't find any additional information on coins this new. Most of the statistics they provided also stopped around Y2K.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Might be a stupid question-
why didn't the mint release recent dates into circulation?

Primarily because nobody wants them or uses them in circulation. The same reason they haven't released any Sackys for circulation since 2001.

The Mint is still selling 2001 halves.

Yep. As long as they have some left they will not mint more for circ.

Once those 2001's are gone they may mint more for circulation but I would expect congress to stop the minting of halfs at that point if they haven't already.

    Probably another stupid question-
    what are Sackys?

Nobody likes remembering the spelling or typing it out if they do remember. Sacagawea Dollars. It's not one of those words that rolls smoothly off of your mental dictionary.

Good luck putting an end to a coin with JFK on it.

With those mintages, the Kennedys might someday be the most sought after of the clad coinage from this time period.
