It has happened to me, it shows as shipped but never arrived at post office. One time it took a month before they shipped even though it showed as having a shipped recipe. I too was wondering why is eBay allowing this to happen. NO one should be allowed to get shipping invoice before the item even made it into the hands of post office or carrier. I was lucky and got my items but anyone can see how crooked people would use this to profit.

I'm waiting on a coin from probably the biggest seller on ebay. 2nd item in a row from them no show...no tracking. The first one after like 5 weeks i was able to hit item not received. They gave a refund and took away my ability to leave feedback.

While that was going down i had bought another coin from them. Its been 5 weeks now on that one. Somehow the estimated arrival just keeps changing which denies my ability to hit did not receive. They say they shipped both.So I'm just out the money with no item until they quit manipulating the estimated. Still haven't received the 1st one they refunded. The new estimated will be 2 mos waiting.

I order coins from all corners of the world. 17 days is the longest i can remember one taking.

So did this seller ship these coins? Big seller so youd think so. But what am I to think?

I agree with the "do not always believe the USPS tracking" group. I've seen too many items misreported in their tracking system, too.

I suspect the seller sent it. So I would hold off on negative feedback. But if it drags out way too long, check ebay's terms and advise the seller you are opening an unreceived claim. Not saying it wasn't sent, just that it wasn't received. Unless unsupported by ebay policy for the particular mailing category, they are likely to refund your money no questions asked.

Thing is you can't do that when the "estimated" shipping time is not breached. Also it doesn't mirror what the auction stated....and on top of that it will change and apply an extension. So as a buyer you can be out the money with no item in hand for 2 months than just get a refund. Its like giving a short term interest free loan. I'm getting ready to experience that for the 2nd time in 6 mos. Same seller and the first coin never ever has arrived.

What other market place do you hand over money then sit on the moon with no idea WTH is going on until the other 2 parties involved in the transaction "decide" you waited long enough? Its not perfect for sure.

I actually got the item I bought on ebay BEFORE I received the tracking number. I wrote and told the seller about this, Person replied, "that has happened before." So I'd wait a few more days.

To me, it sounds as if he wanted more $$ and is going to re-list. As for negative feedback I would excoriate him/her and let everyone know who visits his/her site what kind of person they are dealing with. If there is a way to contact ebay (don't know as I seldom use ebay) then I would forward the message to them.
You might also POST ON CT the name of the individual for all of us to take note.
    Good luck.

All this makes me happy I don't get my coins online. I know, some of you don't have a choice. I'm fortunate to have coin auctions, shows, a shop and coin club to get mine.

I got burnt once by just dropping into 'the box', as a result these days I take EVERY item I sell into the post office and get a receipt scan and load it on the system that day. That way, at the very minimum, it will show as having been received at the post office.

Like others have stated, I have also seen an item not show any movement for many days,(just last week as a matter of fact) and then suddenly show up at a sorting facility in another part of the country. I did have some items just disappear, I got to know postal staff across the country after non delivery complaints online, unfortunately most of those were never located

Strangely they do go off track at times also, last year I had one item go via Hawaii from near Austin TX to PA. Go figure how that happened, think I have the screen shot for that one someplace lol.

On the receiving side of things I had a $550 order show as delivered to mailbox and was there within 12 minutes of it being 'delivered'. Lots of visits to the post office and around 5 days later it was actually delivered. Thankfully every item that gets scanned also is GPS logged when delivered and they found the package.

I've had my tracking say delivered or even could not deliver ... than it show up the next day. Thats probably happened 5 times this year. My mail man said its them scanning it wrong at my local facility. They are simply not selecting the proper tab on the scanner gun i think.

The eBay system allows you to print a postage label at home or business to affix to the package. So when you print it out it will show on the system as 'label created'.

Because of this situation I would always make sure to take the items inside to the post office and get it scanned to show as received in the system

Had only 1 negative feedback issue for a different reason.

That may have been the case for you, but not in mine, it was 'out for delivery' then 'delivered at mail box'. It was delivered incorrectly. I know for a fact, from speaking with my postal manager last week, there are 3 different addresses the postal worker mixes up because he only looks at the number and doesn't take note of street name.

Appears Anna herself is emailing me. I'm being as big as I can about it. I'm not trying to get in a huge dispute with a seller that big. But I just feel disrespected. Plus i am realizing quickly that i can't order from them anymore anyhow. I mean at this point why? 2 coins in a row. So...big bummer they have a huge inventory. I'm looking at 2 half pennys in they're inventory now. I cant buy them. It would be stupid.

Carriers make 2 common mistakes and they repeat them for years. The right street but the wrong numbers and the right numbers but the wrong street. I had 2 of my 7 carriers do this on a regular basis. No matter what you do, they make the same mistake over and over repeatedly.

Funny because a month ago I ordered a bunch of coins and I am still waiting on two from this same seller I think. Everything else has arrived. They're in Czech Republic I think?

You are making a lot of assumptions about what this seller is doing and you think the buyer should do his best to destroy his business over what could very well be a USPS mistake. There are a lot of problems with the mail. If you send and receive enough mail you come to realize this. Not every lost package means someone is trying to screw you. I know a lot of people think that way but it just isn't the case.

Envelopes with correct postage are not an issue when deposited in collection boxes - they're processed as usual.
Parcels, however must bear a return address and must be presented for mailing at a post office customer service counter - you will be asked to verify that the contents are not fragile, liquid or dangerous - you will also be offered tracking and insurance (a must for shipping coins) & the clerk will weigh the parcel and verify/sell the correct postage and fees.
If your seller deposited a parcel into a collection box, chances are it was returned to the sender or sent to a dead letter office (a long delay) if it didn't have a valid return address.
