Got this unsolicited beauty in the mail today ...

Here is one of the U.S. half dollar's ancestors, the Spanish Milled 4 bits. These coins are a lot scarcer than the Spanish Mill Dollar and sell for higher prices. I suppose a lack of demand accounts for the much lower mintages.

 

Here's an 1877-S with pretty clear RPM.

 

Love the varieties you can see without magnification. Makes them even more special. Nice coin

 

Lousy pics as per my usual...but anyhoo just got it yesterday. O-111, first two stars close, E in STATES low.

I saw some but not a lot of the more [relatively] recent fifty-cent/half dollars. Man, I'm getting old. Anyway, I cannot help myself . . .

 

Not quite as special as most in the thread so far, but I did manage really good pics of it... And its silver too!!

 

Something different. Pulled out of the pulper clean-out pit at a recycled newspaper mill.
