I found this coin in the penny roll...Asked couple of people and some of them they said that is damage...some of them just don't know what to do say......
Not a rim cud imo - Could be a small flake of a lamination, but it also could be damage. Can we see a photo of the edge of the cent at that point?
I posted one picture but today I will try to make some pictures, anyway when I'm looking on the I can't see any damage.....is looking like o cud over trust....
Can't be a rim cud because a rim cud is confined to the rim. Whatever this is it extends out over the tops of the letters. My problem is the letter do not seem to be connected to the anomaly. If it was a design cud and a piece of the die had broken away including the tops of the letters I would expect the letters to "flow" into the cud with no separation. This makes me believe that it is probably damage and something has "pushed" the top surface of the rim over above the lettering.
It appears to be a lamination, I almost imagine I can see a small portion of letter imprint on the "flakeination". Jim
I don't think it is a lamination because if it was it would have been there when the coin was struck and the tops of the letters would have been well formed in the lamination. (The lamination layer would have conformed to the recesses in the die.)
Also I have another coin which is something that I don't know what is that....the question is about rim and reversal...is looking like is not from 1982....or I'm wrong?
The 1944 looks like a folded fin or burr. It seems to ride on top of the letters with space underneath. I don't think it's PMD because there it doesn't look like there is a dent large/deep enough to push that much metal into the field. The 1982 is damaged Just my thoughts
Suggestion.. When presenting your coins and questions.. do separate threads. There is too much going on on this thread concerning the original coin. Your 1982 is just all circulation wear.
