Here’s mine and yes it’s silver. I removed it from the government packaging and it now resides in my Dansco 7070.

I remember a lot of letters to the editor complaining the horse took all the focus from George. I still liked it and Elizabeth Jones. I bought one when they first came out but I have no idea what happened to it.

Too bad that horse wasn't Mister Ed: "George... Cornwallis is a fixing to flank you at Brandywine."

I have always liked that design with GW and his mount's head turned at about the same angle; also calls to mind his heroic exploits in the French and Indian War on horseback .

Nice. Mine was gifted to me many years ago.
I sent it to NGC for grading. It wasn't the best grade but it is more sentimental value than anything else.

Wow paddyman, if I were to give you a gift it would be a couple pounds of dirt. I could see the excitement on your face while digging through it. Of course I would bury a slug in the dirt, just for you! I have a few sealed and certified 250 commemoratives of Washington, they are gorgeous. Great post.

I probably have 20+ of them I bought them as bullion around 2006 or 7. All in original packaging. I don't remember what I paid for each but, I know it was around melt. Proof & Mint State. I took them out of the original packaging but kept them in their capsules. I have the packaging stashed somewhere but, didn't want to take up to much space in my safe with cardboard.

I was very lucky to get one. It seems that one of the sellers that I bought from had sent me one a while back. It is a beaut, but somehow it got misplaced. Since I was collecting commemorative coins, I put it with one of my sets, but which one?

Cool. I got mine out for the first time in a while to look at it...still blast white in the cello and the exact same OGP/box as yours and will stay that way. I used to have several MS and Proof in OGP but have gifted them to my grandkids.

The 1982 Washington half is one of the nicer commemoratives that have been made in modern times. One thing I couldn't figure out is why they made the later half dollars in the clad junk. When a lot of them were they sold sets with the silver dollar why a clad half? However, the mint seems to do a lot of strange things so who knows.

I've always liked that coin. It was one of the first I added when I got back into collecting in the late 80's.

Interesting thing about this coin. The D issue is rarer with only 2.3 million (approx) minted and the S(proof ) had 4.9 million minted. Geeze, now I gotta go get a D issue, dag nabbit~
