Its junk. I dont own one single lincoln except the ones in my great grandfather's Whitmans that were handed down. I just thought it was a douche comment. The guy is participating with us ,,,, and that's what he got slung at him. Maybe you should ask him his opinion. Not me. He obviously has one. Banging out a sly underhanded comment was about as useless as the post i made. It was some sort of attempt to make himself look smarter than the original poster. Lame. Just rubbed me wrong thats all. Carry on.
So you needed to insult all US coin collectors and also call the guys coin "junk". Conder101's post was honest. Give it some thought.
My great grandfather's name was Elbert G. Workman, he joined the North Carolina 1st Reg. in 1861; fought in all the major battles of the Civil War, discharged in 1865 as a Sgt. Fathered 8 kids, 7 boys and one girl, one of the boys was my grandfather Ben. I thought it would be cool to find the IHC's of the Civil War years for my grandson. The 1909 vdb has tool marks on it, I knew it when I bought it, it is a hole filler for my grandson's wheat book until a better example comes along.
Nolan, don't know what you paid but it looks like you got some nice coins. Yes the 09 is kinda beat up, but it does make a nice temporary filler for someone's collection! I think you did great!!!
Elbert served during the Civil War, Ben, World War I, my father World War II and I and my wife, served during the Vietnam War. Thanks for your service too.
We are a very patriotic family. My wife is a descendant of the Mayflower and a member of the DAR. Her dad US Navy South Pacific WW II. Me a member of the SAR, American Legion and Vietnam Vets of America. Thanks for the service of your family.
My father was WWII Navy in New Caledonia; my wife was a Navy Corpsman, I was a Torpedoman's Mate in the Navy. Great grand pap was a Confederate. Good night, y'all.
No. Thats really not what I was going for. Honestly.... I probably brought work home with me last night. Tough day. I wasn't looking for a fight. It just stuck in me wrong. He probably didn't mean anything by it. It's not that big of a deal.
I'm glad to see you say that. Too many people aren't willing to see that the confederate soldiers were NOT traitors and were fighting for their country, or more likely for their State, even if it was against their former country. It was a concern that he didn't over pay for a clearly damaged coin. It is clear for his later comments that he knew exactly what he was buying and therefore I am sure he didn't over pay.
