Here's another strange little coin straight out of Greek mythology.Check out that face and the scary snakes. It's an early Halloween for you guys.
Eh Gads... I won't go near there!!! Here is Alexander the Great or his crazy brother Phillip III on a silver drachma. Here is something "I" think is pretty neat. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/seleucia/alexander_II/t.html Check the 5th Alexander II coin down. I attributed and submitted that baby. The only known example, probably worth at least $5.00 LOL. Bone
Bonedigger,King Philip III of Macedonia was actually Alexander the Great's father, not his brother. Aidan.
Aidan, I think bone digger is speaking of Alexander the Great's half-brother Philip III Arrhidaeus. If he is, Arrhidaeus is not really that famous of a person and it is confusing with the Philip III begining.
You sure about that I thought that was Philip II, King of Macedonia, father of both Alexander and Philip III. By different mothers of course. http://faq.macedonia.org/history/philip.html Way down at the bottom of the page. Philip III was the illegitmate son of Philip II making him Alexander's 1/2 brother. Bone
Thanks for that,Bone. How's things been in your part of the world? It has been raining over here in Wellington,New Zealand. Aidan.
I'll be at home tonight watching 'Survivor Palau'.I have followed most of these. You can now buy them on DVD. Aidan.
It's a strange world isn't it? You're in NZ watching CBS and bonedigger is here watching (I assume) the BBC series about people living the iron age life..LOL
No,we can't pick up C.B.S. 'Survivor Palau' has screened a few months on Channel 3 over here in New Zealand. after being screened in America.Yes,we can get the B.B.C. over here, but it usually is screened free to air on Channel 1 after midnight. The B.B.C.'s programming is of much better quality than our own programmes.I haven't seen any programmes about coins though. Aidan.
