S and D Morgan silver dollars pre sale today

Anyone have luck getting both on presale today? I was able to get 3 of each by 9:10 after a few bad gateway and cant find the page you are looking for! was still a bit easier than back when the CC and O came out. Hoping next week is good as well.

I quit collecting US Mint commemoratives about 3 years ago. I consider these to be commemoratives, therefore, I will not collect them.

 

Well... I either have one of each or 3 Ds and 1S. The site is really screwed up but you are right- it was better than the CC/O.

 

My advice buy the actual 100+ year old ones.For basically the same price unless your looking to flip for a profit.

 

Yup I got 3 of each as well.

Last time with the CC & O I only got 1 of each because I wanted others to have a fair shot but then I saw thousands being resold on Ebay so I decided to just get what I wanted this time.

I might sell one of each on the forums for the same price the Mint charges to get one of each to someone who couldn’t get one from the Mint but I’m not sure yet.

 

I only wanted one of each but I bought extras. I bought extras to trade for the Peace Dollar if I am shut out of that one!

 

Exactly why i went ahead and got 3 of each this time!

 

It didn't really seem any better to me. I had the same Bad Gateway error repeated several times as well as the The Page You Are Looking For Cannot Be Found error repeating too.
Thankfully, I was able to get my order in before they were sold out. Just two of each for me.

 

Yeah it wasn't crazy better, but the supply lasted way longer than I expected. I had to retry like 10 times because of the 'errors' and just knew I was taking too long, but apparently I was good.

 

Yeah I had that gateway issue too but last time it would actually ban you temporarily and prevent you from refreshing for several minutes.

This time the bad gateway issue still came up but refreshing the page could fix it and allow you to continue trying to proceed with the purchase.

 

It helped that the Mint lowered the household limit from 10 to 3.

That means statistically people had 3x as much time to buy one this time than last time.

I remember seeing all kinds of EBay sellers showing their pre-confirmation emails and all of them bought 10 of each whereas now if you EBay the coins that came out today they show they only could buy 3.

 

Way too early to be selling these but many weak handed tennis shoe sellers have infiltrated the coin world. It was much more entertaining years ago watching the hands of John Adams play coins.

 

If you do manage to get the Peace Dollar you also might be able to trade or sell your extras to a dealer for more than you paid.

 

Added both to the cart pretty easily, but spent 15 minutes trying to check out before the order was confirmed.

Other than the Mint fixing their system so the error messages come faster, I don't know what they did to improve the experience. Every time I got an error message, I was logged out of their site.

 

Yup that’s usually how it goes.

Usually adding the item to the cart is the easy part.

Getting the Mint to take your money is the hard part ironically.

I managed to get a V75 Gold Eagle in my cart when they came up for sale but due to the Mint not taking my money.

My guess (just a guess) for what is going on is that they are trying to process tens of thousands of credit card transactions in a few minutes and they can’t handle it so that’s why people have to keep trying over and over again hoping the transaction will be processed.

 

I am hoping that I will get a crack at the 2021 Peace Dollar, but I doubt that it will happen. I am not going to pay some dealer $250 to $300 for it.

 

Yeah same. I bought 3 of the D & S Morgan’s today so that I can maybe trade for a Peace Dollar if I don’t manage to get one. Or if I don’t get the P Morgan that is being released with it.

But if I do manage to get them both I will probably sell my extras for $85 + shipping so that my fellow collectors who actually want them for their collections (not resale) can get them at the normal Mint price.

 

The website took longer this time than last time for me, but I was able to get multiples of both.

 

I can do much better price wise at my LCS.
