New to the forum and new to coin collecting. Seeking general idea of value (or good source of values) for ,

    1. 1944 Lincoln penny. All letters and engravings are readable. No mint indicated. Finish is somewhat dull. No damage.
    2. 1776-1976 Liberty Quarter. Shiny, no damage, groves on edge are very distinctive.

Finally, If I want to get an accurate and honest value on old silver dollars (1800s) as well as newer Proof silver dollars, what is my best source?

    Many thanks. coinboy2

The 1944-P Lincoln, and the Bicentennial Quarter are common, and only really worth face value. *Though the Lincoln being pre-1982 is going to be worth about 2 cents, because of copper content.

What are the dates on the silver dollars?

The silver dollars value depend on their date/mm, and the grade, so if you can post pics.

You can get the retail value of the silver dollars from the red book. This is what a numismatist would sell the coin at, not what you would be expected to be able to sell for (unless you used eBay/auction house). The blue book will give you typical wholesale values.

I would suggest that if you have not already done so, sign up for an account at Heritage Coins. Search the Auction archives for the date , type and denomination you seek. They also provide some very decent photos of the coins. However, if you are conducting a search to determine the value of some of your coins, I would suggest you have the coins appraised by a local Dealer.
