I have just received two identical East India Company 1840 rupees. The scan shows the better of the two coins.

They are 30.6mm diameter and weigh 11.6g. the wreath has (after many recounts!) 28 berries and the diamonds are large. The obverse has two raised initials which are probably W W. I cannot see any mint marks. The coins have a type II obverse (divided legend).

Based on the above, , I have tentatively identified the coins as KM# 458.2.
Krause does not have an image of the type II coin.

Can anyone with more knowledge of British India coins than me confirm my identification or point me in the right direction if I'm wrong?

    It is British India coin.

There are many rare coins of this period which interests the coin collectors. The 1939 Rupee is the most expensive rupee. Visit link to see new coins photographs and more on Indian Coins-Numismatics Forum http://coinsindia.info British India coinage.
