I think its a Roman Republican denarius, but dont know to much about republican coins, and cant say if yours is geuine or not. Someone should be able to tell you here though. I cant see it to well.

They're nice little chunks of silver. You can see and feel the difference from the debased denari made down the road.
Minted in 84 BC. The figure on the reverse is Minerva, while that on the obverse is Vejovis (a representation of Jupiter/Jove ?) with a thunderbolt. As it's a pretty good strike, I'd estimate its value at about $150.
I have a gold variant of you silver coin there. And that one i have researched crazy. Stumbled upon the true origin of those coins, and they are from pompejii. Theese has been buried in the ash of that ancient erruption, therefore way well preserved. They are old of course, and very special. Documents of the sideshow to Rome, a culture they did not wish to melt with, still Italians both of them. They was a bit odd for their taste, though the volcano rid their world from this eroticfanatic culture. And about 1948 and on few years, pre-archeologists robbed what they could from the site, bringing the finds only to european posessions, earned quite good on it. Past year 2000, now first the true diggings are being performed, but alot is lost, what remains is mostly rubbish, part from wallpaintings and certain cheramics, and missed coins. You are keeping a coin from a tomb-robbers hand you could say.
Someone please clarify this gentleman. I fear that if I attempt to do so, I will sound less than welcoming.
