My wife and I went to the Cincinnati coin show today. I expected more dealers honestly and more people, but overall it was great to be back at a show. I had a list of only four coins...keys that I needed to knock out: 1914 D Lincoln Cent 1916 S Walking Liberty Half 1921 D Walking Liberty Half Oregon Trail Commemorative After walking the floor it was nice to see ancients and large cents having a good representation. I feel I do not see these much at shows. My wife fell in love with some sort of panda bullion, but after hearing price, she quickly pulled me away. (Got to love that woman for just wanting to go with me. She certainly earned wifey points today!) Despite looking around the floor for a couple of rounds, I only found a couple dealers having the Walking Liberty Halves, but were not graded, which is what I want for my key dates. However, I did find these two!
I was gonna go but just had to much going on at work this week. Just wanted to relax. Monday comes around too quick. Glad you got to go. Hope it was at least worth the trip. My wife goes to the LCS's with me about every 3 months. She likes silver as well. I actually have a stupid Panda story for later. I will not jack your thread. But.... my wife is not as nice to me. I have bought some turd generic silver just to keep her happy.
Love that Oregon Commemorative, one of the best designs ever engraved and minted by the US Mint imho, you did well!
Too bad all these "shows" are hundreds of miles away. Oh well meant to be I guess. Those are some fine looking coins I am drawn to that 1914-D though. Good catch.
I was there Friday, The show is almost back to its former self. More than twice as many dealers as last year. I got to visit with a lot of old acquaintances, made my last payment to Steve Ellsworth on some $14K worth of large cents I had purchased frm him. He immediately tried to interest me in a $7000 1793 S-9. I have to admit I was seriously tempted. Good thing I didn't go back Sat. Saw some other tempting items but the only thing I bought were a couple of books from Kolbe & Fanning, the new Connecticut copper book and The History and Coinage of Machins Mills published by C4. Had a nice long chat with Steven Petty, he was at the Liberty Seated table with his second finest Trade dollar collection.
