I bought a collection this morning and there's some currency in the stuff. There are 4 pieces of colonial currency. I just scanned this piece. I'm sure the stuff is real....but need to scan the other pieces. Since I just got all of this stuff today, there's been much to do, and many distractions. Any good sites where a person can learn about this kind of paper? Nightowl
If you can aquire acopy of "Paper Money of the United States" by Friedberg (2001)on page 213. It has a picture of a 1/3 of one dollar of Feb 17, 1770, printed by Hall & Sellers' in Philadelphia. It does give values. Good luck. -O)
Could you post some larger pic,s would give us a better idea, Go to Photobucket.com very easy to use!!
The krause book, The Early Paper Money of America, Colonial Currency 1696-1810,5th Edition by By Eric P. Newman may be of interest / assistance.
Also, not a big fan of the show, but the History Channel series Pawn Stars had an episode airing recently in which they had a few pieces of Revolutionary War Currency in the shop, printed and attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Pawn Stars: Season 2: Christmas Special - Part 1/3 (YouTube link) Currency begins at the 6:36 minute mark.
