1980-D over S CherryPickers??

    I found this today. It is the one listed on Page 152 in the 5th Ed.
    It was listed as FS-034.1 But says It has been removed..
    I wonder why or how they remove an coin from the list..??
    Are they saying its not real? It looks like an S above the D.. Light but it is there..
    Any help in understanding what I have found???

    It's been determined by experts that it is a series of die gouges.

    According to the Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents by Wexler and Flynn, Gary Darlington showed an early die state coin , showing the "S" to be indentations in the die. Abrasion created the appearance of a "S" mint mark.

    If this isn't the actual cent described, it is still a good example of an early die state,showing the effect.
