I was working in an area of Brooklyn, NY, giving some Chase ATM's a facelift. The area was heavily Russian descendents. The ATM's were out of use and a lady came in that wanted to get money to buy smokes. She then offered to buy a cigarette from me. I agreed and she gave me a gold coin. I thought it was a $1 coin, but I've never seen a coin like this before. It has no writing on either side, just a picture of a woman with wings, a halo, and rays of sunlight shooting up from behind her. Is this real currency or some kind of game token?? Who can help me??

Sounds like you were out near Brighton Beach and got some sort of (religious?) angel pocket charm

    Pics will help with ID.

Yes, it was Brighton Beach. I will have to dig it out, take a photo, and post it on here. I looked at some pics of the pocket angel charms, but they all look homemade. The coin that I have seems to have been stamped. I'll update soon and hope for some background on it. Thanks.

I think I know what you're talking about. A month or so ago, here in San Francisco, I opened my cash register to start my work shift, and there was a token exactly as you describe in there. IIRC, both sided were the same design, the one you describe. Nobody at work would admit to taking it as payment. It feels like aluminum or whatever they make Chuck-E-Cheese tokens out of.

    Some religious token, I'm sure.

Edit: The one I saw, IIRC, looked a lot like this, but was NOT "Vintage," and was clearly a piece of modern junk:

Is there a church based casino or gaming establishment somewhere close by? Just the right size for an arcade/slot token and the image would tend to suggest one with religious connections.

okay so a couple of days ago I needed some change and I grabbed some off the top of the microwave. When I went to pay at the store and that is exactly what I pulled out of my pocket. Now this is getting a little creepy. I had no idea what it was.

That's because of the (obviously false) claim that it might be gold. At ~1" diameter, a weight of ~4.5 grams is nowhere near heavy enough to be gold.
