Thanks for that, @octavius! ...Along with cordial commiseration about the one you lost, this is looking like a really fine --no, frankly impressive-- example of pottery from the cusp of the 1st millennium BCE. ...Nope, not late- or post-Mycenaean, but Dang, at $500, Good Enough. And I'm Really Jealous of your bookcase! What I've got, on the only wall that gets to be devoted to bookshelves, is an improvisatory mish-mash of smaller ones, from nice, wooden ones (which are too small) to ones which are literally composite. Ugh. The books they hold effectively justify their continued existence. ...Except, now I'm noticing that you still have to stack books, more or less en masse (right hand side of your last pic). ...And then you see pics of people, for instance, from Zoom, where they've got bookshelves behind them which are taken up largely by stuff generically known as 'dust collectors.' And I'm saying, NO! that's for BOOKS! --Nope, not to even insinuate that you could be accused of any such thing.
I just remembered an old funny "auction nightmare" story that happened to our dear member @TIF a few years ago. I don't think she'll blame me for posting the link. I tell you, it worth reading it ! It's the story of her avatar's coin. Hi @TIF . Hoping you're doing OK. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancient-adventures-in-bidland-agathokles-tetradrachm.243930/
Yes, I've had also had glitches occur, usually with long delays in submitting bids during the live sessions, or everything "freezing" up, usually due to the Internet connection timing out. Such is the fickle finger of fate technology bestows on us today. At least I don't see Clippy - not for a very long time. Remember him? Microsoft created this whimsical character as part of Windows 95. He would appear when something really bad has happened, such as the system crashing and the files you've been slaving over are gone, offering "assistance" that was really a road to nowhere. I never appreciated the appearance of Clippy; I found his presence during those very dark moments extremely irritating, at a minimum, and I was tempted on more than one occasion to pick up the monitor and chuck it through the window. I understand that there is a meme out there in the nether regions of the Internet of Clippy. I just hope he doesn't appear on my screen until my brain is nearly totally fried - PTSD, don't you know....
