This coin appears to have a die crack going around the entire coin at the top of the letter. It is not a physical scratch. It could be a scratch on the die. It is raised. I have never seen anything quite like it. 2014 P Kennedy.jpg 210729195540468.jpg 210729195607253.jpg 210729195633370.jpg 210729195711224.jpg 210729195915380.jpg Some feedback please.

Okay, just a theory . Maybe it's damage form a roll crimping machine ? semacon-cm-65-crimper.jpg

Is the coin still in the set or did you obtain it separately? It looks similar to die cracks found on a lot of old bust halves.

I've seen that sort of cracking on Morgan dollars.

Yes, it was in the set as it came from the mint. So, is not from a coin rolling machine.

No, it didn't come from a crimping machine. But, like you said, it could look that way.

I think that die saw too many strikes. There is some quite pronounced radial flow lines and the outside lettering is spreading towards the rim, both classic signs of an overused die. The fine crack meets each letter at just the point where they spread. Pressure of the strike and a deteriorated die causing weakness around the perimeter of the die. Like a lot of my Morgans
Just my opinion, but it is what I see

Thanks @expat. I have several of these but this is the only one with these lines. I wanted some extra eyes on it. I have some Morgans like this also.
