    Hoorayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

I was visiting Sacramento CA on New Year's Eve, and when I returned home I noticed a shiny penny in my change.

It was my first 2009 Lincoln cent with the Statehouse reverse that I found in circulation. On New Year's Eve, no less!

    Well, better late then never.

Strange how there are boxes of them available on eBay at 2 to 6 times face value, yet the public doesn't have access to them at face value. Shouldn't they be dumped into circulation, not sold at face value to promoters, giving big business another chance to take advantage of us all.?

Come to think of it, this is the ONLY 2009 coin I received in circulation during calendar year 2009.

Who dropped the ball at the Mint on this one? Wasn't the Lincoln commemorative series intended to educate and expose the public to commemorative coins? Since these didn't circulate, no one that I know who's not a coin collector knows anything about it. Really bad year for the Mint, IMHO. Add this to the silver eagle proofs being canceled, and the Mint really blew an opportunity. And now, they're going to offer these 5-oz silver quarters when they couldn't even keep up with the normal silver demand? Who's in charge here?

I read an article that stated the 2009 coins are sitting in the Fed Reserve (if they haven't all been sold to promoters), due to the influx of old coins, due to the bad economy. Thus, some year they maybe trickling out. The bank I bought solid rolls of state quarters from, got only mixed rolls (mixed with old coins) of the Mariana. That's what I hear the plan is for the Parks Quarters too, no solid rolls, only mixed ones with old quarters.

The 2009 Lincoln Cent series was a fiasco: it should have been released in 2008, since circulating coins around the country takes some time. They should have known better.

I have yet to see one in circulation...

But I have to admit, I did find some territory quarters

    1 Northern Mariana Islands
    1 Guam
    2 or 3 Washington D.C.
